HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGER

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join a leading Tier 1 construction contractor, working across major construction projects in Central London.

This is a key position within the project team, responsible for driving the highest standards of health, safety and wellbeing across complex, high-value construction environments.

THE ROLE

As Health & Safety Manager, you will work closely with Project Directors, Construction Managers, Site Managers, subcontractors and the wider HSE team to ensure projects are delivered safely and in full compliance with company procedures and UK legislation.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and promoting a positive health & safety culture across site

• Providing expert H&S advice to project and operational teams

• Carrying out regular site inspections, audits and compliance reviews

• Reviewing RAMS, construction phase plans and safe systems of work

• Ensuring subcontractors comply with project and company H&S standards

• Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses and implementing corrective actions

• Delivering toolbox talks, briefings and safety initiatives

• Monitoring high-risk construction activities

• Producing H&S reports and presenting findings to senior management

• Supporting project teams with CDM 2015 compliance

• Liaising with clients, subcontractors and other key stakeholders

• Identifying areas for continuous improvement and implementing best practice

• Supporting and mentoring site teams to maintain exceptional safety standards

THE CANDIDATE

We are looking for an experienced construction Health & Safety professional who is confident operating on major projects.

Ideally, you will have:

• Previous experience as a Health & Safety Manager, HSE Manager or Senior H&S Advisor

• Strong experience within the construction industry

• Experience working for a Tier 1 or major main contractor would be highly advantageous

• NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent

• NEBOSH Diploma / NVQ Level 6 desirable

• TechIOSH, GradIOSH or CMIOSH status advantageous

• Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations and current UK H&S legislation

• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills

• The confidence to challenge unsafe practices at every level

• A proactive, practical approach to health & safety
